CelinieJourney® Moissanite

Nearly 20 years ago, we introduced moissanite to customers around the world.

Because natural moissanite is extremely rare, it must be lab-created to be used in fine jewelry. By creating and offering the first lab-grown moissanite gemstones, we helped transform the jewelry industry and establish a new standard for brilliant, colorless stones.

Not every moissanite is crafted to the same standard!

From independent jewelry artisans to major fine jewelry retailers, moissanite has become a highly sought-after alternative to traditional mined diamonds. However, not every moissanite is created with the same level of quality, precision, or care.

CelinieJourney Moissanite is created through our original patented process and carefully hand-cut by skilled master cutters using proprietary techniques. Since 2001, we have helped set the standard for moissanite in Asia, and over more than two decades of production, we have continued to refine and perfect every step of the process. With CelinieJourney, you can feel confident that you are choosing moissanite crafted for exceptional brilliance, beauty, and lasting quality.

What exactly is moissanite?

Moissanite is a gemstone with a celestial origin story. It was first identified in 1893 by French scientist Henri Moissan, who later received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. While examining a meteorite crater in Arizona, he discovered tiny crystal particles of the gemstone that would eventually be named after him. At first, Moissan believed the crystals were diamonds, but further study revealed that they were actually composed of silicon carbide.

Because natural moissanite is extremely rare, nearly all moissanite used in jewelry today is carefully created in a laboratory. After years of experimentation, refinement, and innovation, scientists were able to successfully recreate the particles Moissan discovered, giving rise to one of the most brilliant and light-catching gemstones available in modern fine jewelry.

Moissanite is designed to offer a diamond-like appearance, but it is different from diamond in both composition and visual character. While both gemstones are excellent thermal conductors, their durability, brilliance, and fire are distinct. Moissanite is especially admired for its intense sparkle, colorful fire, and lasting strength, making it a beautiful alternative for fine jewelry.

Strength & Wearability

Moissanite is exceptionally strong and durable, making it highly resistant to everyday scratches and surface wear. With a Mohs hardness rating of 9.25, it is one of the hardest gemstones used in fine jewelry, second only to diamond.

Exceptional Sparkle

Moissanite is best known for its remarkable brilliance, which refers to the bright sparkle created as light reflects through the stone. With a high refractive index of 2.65, moissanite is considered one of the most brilliant gemstones available.

Colorful Fire

A defining feature of moissanite is its fire, also known as dispersion. As light passes through the gemstone, it separates into different wavelengths, creating vivid flashes of rainbow-like color across the stone.
